Ban Jomjang - Tour groups of 40-60 pax can spend one or more nights in a Thai village near the Mekong to experience Thai village life. The villagers accommodate the tourists in their homes and show them the local sights and entertain them. The group watches boat racing on the Mekong, and if it is October they see the magical rockets exploding from the river at night. At night the group participates in Isan dancing to music made with traditional Isan instruments. At 11pm it's bedtime and in the morning at 7am group members give food to the monks as they pass by. After breakfast it's shopping time, buying the handicrafts made by the villagers, which is the reason the villagers are entertaining the group. The village is Ban Jomjang, which is 18km from Nong Khai. If you are a tour operator wanting to make use of this stay on your tour, send us an e-mail and we'll give it the villagers after we've translated it to Thai.
